Primary pressure reducing regulators or primary reduction valves (PRV) as they are commonly known are used to connect CO2 & mixed gas cylinders to a beverage dispense system. These gases will then provide `top pressure` to the product kegs and also to any fitted gas pumps from the dedicated gas type ring-mains. In order to use the gas from a cylinder a reduction of the very high pressure to a much lower operating pressure is required.

This equipment may form part of the pressure system as defined by the BBPA Code of Practice for the dispense of beer by Pressure systems and if so, should be installed and maintained by a competent person, in accordance with the code.
